Initial experience connected with ICF

As a manager at YMCA Mongolia, I was already familiar with the Interfaith Cooperation Forum (ICF), having participated in several webinars with our youth representatives. I had long aspired to join the School of Peace, and in May 2023, I finally had the opportunity to attend the program in Bali, Indonesia. It was an unforgettable experience and a cherished memory of my life. Connecting with ICF feels like finding a lifelong soulmate; no matter where I live or what I do, this bond will continue to thrive. Thanks to this enduring connection, I received funding to implement my "Peaceful Environment" project and the "Advancing Women Inclusion" initiative.

Current roles or engagements that contribute to peace-building efforts

After seven years as a manager at YMCA Mongolia, I have transitioned to my current role as the CEO of the Down Syndrome Association of Mongolia. I contribute to peace-building efforts in this capacity by advocating for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of individuals with Down syndrome and other disabilities. My work involves raising awareness, challenging societal stigma, and promoting policies that ensure equal opportunities for people with disabilities. By fostering social inclusion and advocating for accessible environments, I aim to bridge divides and build understanding across communities. These efforts align with broader peace-building goals, as creating a more just, equitable, and compassionate society contributes to sustainable peace where all individuals are respected, valued, and empowered to participate fully in public life.

Ways ICF programs have influenced my personal and professional development

Participating in the School of Peace (SoP) program was a deeply transformative experience that profoundly impacted my personal and professional development. The program opened my eyes to the world's vast diversity, allowing me to truly appreciate the richness and uniqueness of various cultures, beliefs, and ways of life. This exposure to different perspectives and experiences broadened my worldview and helped me develop a deeper empathy and understanding of others, especially those who may feel marginalized or unheard.

This personal growth has directly influenced my professional journey, particularly in my work with individuals with Down syndrome. It strengthened my dedication to fostering inclusivity and advocating for the rights and well-being of people with disabilities, ensuring that everyone is accepted and empowered to participate fully in society. The insights gained from the SoP program have inspired me to challenge societal norms, address stigma, and push for policies promoting equal opportunities.

Engagement with community initiatives to promote peace

I am currently focusing on promoting peace for caregivers dedicated to caring for children with Down syndrome. These caregivers often spend their entire time worrying about their children's future, facing challenges that make life feel dark and overwhelming. From the moment a child is diagnosed with Down syndrome, their lives are often limited by societal expectations, living according to the wishes of others rather than their own.
